If you haven't heard by now, on Tuesday, March 6th at approximately 10:50 am there was an earthquake in Indonesia. It was centered about 265 miles from us.
To quote an old Carol King song, "I feel the earth move under my feet ..........". Well, at least they tell me it did. Basil and I never felt a thing. We were in a taxi headed across town to look for teak furniture for our balcony and terrace. Friends at our apartment complex told us the buildings did sway a little and did again 10 minutes later during an aftershock. Evidently from what I'm told a swaying building is a good building. They sway instead of breaking apart. Sounds good to me.
The Indonesian Islands - of which there are a lot - is known as "the ring of fire" due to the number of volcanos and earthquakes they experience. In fact, they experience so many, it doesn't get reported in the news as any big deal. We are told that Singapore has never experienced an earthquake, we just sometimes feel it from that area because we are close. The fault lines run up towards Japan who experiences earthquakes periodically.
It must have been reported in the news there because Shari got several phone calls from people wanting to make sure we were ok. I received several emails as well. I guess it was reported in the news more than it was here.
For the official record - everything here is ok. No earthquake, just feeling the tremors of one in Indonesia. Remember a swaying building is a good building and if the earth moves again - we'll see if I even notice it!
I am "blowing in the wind" even if I am not feeling "the earth move under my feet".
Love and no worries to all!
